Accessibility Guide for 7 Crambeck Court, Fetter Lane, York, YO1 6BZ.

Introduction

Crambeck Court is a modern brick built block of 7 apartments spread over three floors. There is one apartment on the ground floor and three on each of the first and second floors. Number 7 is on the second floor. There is no lift.

Crambeck Court is situated in the Bishophill area of York, within the City Walls, close to the city centre, but situated in a quite side street and benefits from secure, on-site parking.

Pre-arrival

  • We have a website, www.holidayletinyork.co.uk , with pictures of all rooms.
  • Bookings and enquiries can be made from the website, by email, telephone or letter. Bookings can also be made through York Tourist Board, Visit York.
  • York Railway Station is 800m away.
  • National coaches operate from the Railway Station; local buses can be caught in Rougier Street 200m from the apartment.
  • This access statement is available upon request.

Arrival and car parking facilities

  • Guests are met on arrival. If arriving by car, shown the allocated secure car park and instructed on how to operate the security roller shutter door.
  • Guests are let into the apartment block, shown to the apartment, given a guided tour and have the chance to ask any questions about the apartment and York.

Main entrance & internal public area

  • If arriving on foot, the main entrance is the front door on Fetter Lane.
  • The front door is accessed by four tiled steps, each 19cm high, 25cm deep and 2m wide. There is a 1.2m deep plateau to the door.
  • There is a hand rail at each side of the steps, 1.1m from the ground.
  • The door is 1.74m tall, 76cm wide with hinges on the right. The key hole is 1m above the ground with a push plate just above.
  • The front glass panelled door pushes open into the public area of the apartment block. The lights are controlled automatically and the public area is covered by a short pile carpet.

Vehicular access, rear entrance and internal public area 

  • If arriving by car the vehicular access is from Fetter Lane, through an electronically operated roller shutter door, not a gate. Guests are met at the apartment, shown the allocated parking space, given instruction on how to operate the roller shutter door and the lighting.
  • Access to the apartment block can be made by returning through the vehicle access and turning left to the front entrance. Alternatively, the rear door can be found by walking through the parking spaces and turning right.
  • The rear door is accessed by two concrete slap steps, each 15cm high, 26cm deep and 1m wide. There is a 1m deep plateau before the door and a 1m high hand rail on the right hand side.
  • The door is 1.74m tall, 76cm wide with hinges on the right. The key hole is 1.15 m above the ground with a push plate just above. There is a 15 cm high step through the doorway.
  • The rear glass panelled door pushes open into the public area of the apartment block. The lights are controlled automatically and the public area is covered by a short pile carpet.

Public area staircase to first floor

  • The stairs are directly in line with the front door and is the first flight of 14 short pile carpeted steps.
  • Each step is 19cm high, 25 cm deep and 96 cm wide.
  • The hand rails on each side are 1 m above the stairs.

First floor staircase to half landing

  • Continue round to the right. There is a flight of 7 short pile carpeted steps to a half landing.
  • Each step is 19cm high, 25 cm deep and 96 cm wide.
  • The hand rails on each side are 1 m above the stairs.

Half landing staircase to second floor.

  • Continue round to the right.  There is a flight of 7 short pile carpeted steps to the second floor.
  • Each step is 19cm high, 25 cm deep and 96 cm wide.
  • The hand rails on each side are 1 m above the stairs.

Second floor.

  • Turn right and the apartment door is straight in front of you. The door is 1.74 m tall, 82cm wide with hinges on the left. The handle is 1.20 m above the ground.
